Blessed!

One of my favorite songs we sing at Res Life ROCKS is Psalm 73 by Barlow Girl. Every time we sing “My God's enough for me, this world has nothing I need, In this whole life I've see, My God's enough, enough for me" I’m reminded that everything I have and desire comes from the Lord. Brent and I struggled with tithing early on in our relationship. It was hard giving that money away when we had bills to pay and were racking up the gas bills driving to see each other.

Pastor Chris often speaks about tithing and the Bible teaches that tithing isn’t about the money, its about putting faith in God for all things and for all needs.

After some time we were convicted to tithe and to make a pledge to our History Makers campaign for our new building. We were amazed that as we tithed our bank accounts saw little change, despite the additional checks we were writing.

Not only did we see little negative change in our account, even though our incomes and expenses remained static, we began seeing God’s blessing increase in our lives. Our broken freezer was fixable. Improved relationships with friends. And now when my take home pay is getting reduced due to an increase in our healthcare costs, God has provided Brent with a raise.

I am continually amazed at the faithfulness and blessing of our Father.

Psalm 27: 25 & 26 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

In speaking to Mr. Right about tithing (its a very sticky subject for him), I've tried to explain that God blesses you far more than you give.

Case in point, I've been a faithful tither all my working life. God has blessed me with a man who is just as conservative (if not more so) and smart with his money as I am.

But I tell him I'm not sure what he did to deserve me! :P
